Curriculum Vitae Video
I created a creative Curriculum Vitae video of myself by trying to make use of the six persuasion tools that we were taught in the creative leadership lecture. “Persuasion is a form of social influence. It is the process of guiding oneself or another toward the adoption of an idea, attitude, or action by rational and symbolic means.”
These six persuasion tools are scarcity, commitment and consistency, social proof, liking, authority and reciprocation
The first persuasion tool is scarcity, which means convincing that you are unique and special, as well as what you can offer to someone. This I have shown very well in my creative cv, by mentioning that I understand about five languages, have several nationalities as well as that I have already had some experiences in the field of event management and I show the skills that I have learnt in the video.
The second persuasion tool is liking, which means showing the company what they need, such as dedication, creativity and knowledge. Well I used this tool in such a way that I mention nearly all my experiences that I have gained so far, that I am currently very active and willing to learn more by showing that I currently work with a student event company and I was part of the ILM Committee. I show my creativity through my previous studies as well as in the way I created the video. The image I deliver here in the video is that I am a very open person that I am creative, active, outgoing and have a sense of humour.
The third persuasion tool is consistency, which means practice what you preach. Well once again I mentioned that I can understand about five languages, however I did not mention how well I know these languages.
The forth persuasion tool is authority, which means what experiences do you have. Well I showed in my video that I have gained many different kinds of experiences, I am creative in that I initiated and can plan an event such as the prom night that I introduced to my high school. I also show my creative and technical skills with certain computer programs, as well as what I have mentioned about the ILM Committee and the Broeikas events company. These are experiences that I am currently gaining and these will help me to expand my skills and knowledge.
The fifth persuasion tool is reciprocation, which means, what can I offer to a company. Reflecting back to my video I present that I follow the International Leisure Management studies, so this shows that I am interested and willing to gain more experiences in event management, however on a more professional level. I can offer my personality and my current mentioned skills as a very open, creative person with a good sense of humor who also enjoys working and socializing with people, that I can solve problems in an innovative way, that I can organize and plan events. This is what the Company needs within the field and. Furthermore, the leisure industry now needs people who are open, active and outgoing as this improves your social point of view of the whole sector.
Last but not least, the last tool is social proof, which means adapt to the company’s culture and try to meet their expectations and standards. I show my adaptability by mentioning I enjoy travelling, my language knowledge and that I have several nationalities. I believe this suggests and proves that I am not stuck to one culture or mind-set. I can meet their expectations by showing that I am ambitious and keen to learn something new and that I will adapt to their working style as much as possible.
